It was narrated that Yahya bin Abu Ishaq Al-Huna’i said:

ā€œI asked Anas bin Malik: ‘What if a man gives his brother a loan, then (the borrower) give him a gift?’ The Messenger of Allah (ļ·ŗ) said: ā€˜If anyone of you borrow something then he gives (the lender) a gift or gives him a ride on his riding-beast, he should not accept the gift or the ride, unless they used to treat each other in that manner beforehand.’ā€

Abu Bakr wrote to me what Allah’s Messenger (ļ·ŗ) has made compulsory (regarding Zakat) and this was mentioned in it: If a property is equally owned by two partners, they should pay the combined Zakat and it will be considered that both of them have paid their Zakat equally.

“A man who gives in charity and hides it, such that his left-hand does not know what his right hand has given.”

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah (ļ·ŗ) said,

“On every joint of man, there is charity, on every day when the sun rises: doing justice between two men is charity, and assisting a man to ride an animal or to load his luggage on it is charity; and a good word is a charity, every step which one takes towards (the mosque for) Salat is charity, and removing harmful things from the way is charity”.

Conclusion:

Charity is a MUST in Islam – we call it sadaqah or zakat. It’s about sharing what you have, and helping those less fortunate. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said it makes you a better person! Even a small gift makes a difference. Especially in Ramadan – those rewards get multiplied! It’s all about caring for your fellow Muslims and those in need.
