Hadith About Forgiveness In the month of Ramadan

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

“Whoever fasts Ramadan, performs the Salat, performs Hajj to the House” – I do not know whether he mentioned Zakat or not – “except that it is binding on Allah that He forgive him, whether he emigrated in the cause of Allah, or remained in his land in which he was born.” Mu’adh said: “Should I not inform the people of this?” The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “Leave the people to do deeds, for verily in Paradise there are a hundred levels, what is between every two levels is like what is between the heavens and the earth. Al-Firdaus is the highest of Paradise and its most expansive, and above that is the Throne of Ar-Rahman (the Most Merciful), and from it the rivers of Paradise are made to flow forth. So when you ask Allah, ask Him for Al-Firdaus.”

(Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2530)

The Prophet (ﷺ) said,

“O women folk! You should give charity and be diligent in seeking Allah’s forgiveness because I have seen (i.e., on the Night of the Ascension to the highest heavens) that dwellers of the Hell are women.” A woman amongst them said: “Why is it that the majority of the dwellers of Hell are women?” The Prophet (ﷺ) replied, “You curse frequently and are ungrateful to your husbands. In spite of your lacking in wisdom and failing in religion, you are depriving the wisest of men of their intelligence.” Upon this the woman asked: “What is the deficiency in our wisdom and in our religion?” He (ﷺ) replied, “Your lack of wisdom can be well judged from the fact that the evidence of two women is equal to that one man. You do not offer Salat (prayer) for some days and you do not fast (the whole of) Ramadan sometimes, it is a deficiency in religion.”

[Muslim] (Riyad as-Salihin 1879)

It was narrated that Ali (رضي الله عنه) said:

A man came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said O Messenger of Allah, tell me of a month that I can fast after Ramadan. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “If you want to fast a month after Ramadan, then fast al-Muharram, for it is the month of Allah and in it is a day on which Allah forgave people and  will forgive more people.

(Musnad Ahmad 1322)

Conclusion

Ramadan always makes me think about those prayers for forgiveness. Now that it’s ending, it’s like…we have to remember what we learned. The Prophet said to always keep asking to be forgiven, to try our best to do good and to never give up hope. It feels like we leave Ramadan a little lighter, a little more ready to keep trying. May Allah always guide us. Also, read dua for head and neck pain.
